Attention designers and SEM marketers, Barack Obama wants YOU!

Its impressive how Barack Obama & Co. is using the power of internet to diffuse his campaign messages and market himself as candidate to US’s upcoming elections. And we’re not talking plain and simple slogans, or silly jingles. His efforts go from fund raising, to videos on YouTube, advertising, and even job postings! Obama has been implementing a flawless strategy to gain popularity of the masses which is that of incorporating the net as a means to communicate and create effective campaigns that resonate to voters, induce votes, promote community interactivity and ultimately secure a seat in public office.

Numbers are cosmic in terms of cash spending on electoral advertising for Obama. To give you an idea, in one month he managed to spend more than $11million on just TV spots in the state of Pennsylvania. Only on Google he’s spent near $3.5million since January up to now.

But what caught my attention, and the reason to my title is the job postings. One of my colleagues at work sent it to me as a joke, but I just found it magnificent. ‘Obama for America, Barack Obama’s campaign for President, seeks Interactive Marketing managers to work at its Campaign Headquarters in downtown Chicago.’ Hey! why not? And the add closes, Obama for America is an equal opportunity employer. So the ideal candidate will be an interactive marketing leader who should be able to lead massive online campaigns with persuasive messages, and has political campaign experience in New Media.

The fund raising activity is also resulting quite powerful. So far, he’s raised a cool $31 million in funds and now anyone who wishes to make a donation, also via YouTube may do so through the Google Checkout, which has been gaining loads of popularity for its convenient and free of charge transaction processing.
